Frequently Asked Questions

Who are we?

Joe and Dave, a couple of Automotive Service Technology students at the College of Dupage. Dave makes the website and narrates, Joe welds better and drives crazier. You can contact Dave at dave@jaquetapusracing.com and Joe at joe@jaquetapusracing.com. Interested in joining in on our shenanigans? Shoot us an email.

What do we do?
Call ourselves a racing engine company for some reason. After we're done making up names, then we work on craptacular cars and either do burnouts with or dirt race them. Sometimes both.

What's a "juh-kwaah-tuh-puss"?
An octopus with a J in front of it. And its pronounced "jock-tuh-puss".

Where do you do all this crazy crap?
Our facility has been in the family for years. It's basically an old school garage we get to use in the summer. In the winter, my Aunt parks her car there.

Why do we ruin perfectly good cars?
We dont. All them cars were cheap to free. And they were crappy when we got them. We're simply making the best of a crappy car that would have otherwise gone to the boneyard. Giving it a few more years of tortured life. The object is to keep them alive for the least money possible. This mindset of course excludes our real projects, the New Yorker and the Mustang. Those are the ones we dump our hard earned dollars into. Everything else? El Cheapo.

Why all the burnouts? Don't all those tires cost a ton?
No, they're free. I get them from behind the shop where I work. They're too crappy to put on real roads, so we convert them to smoke. And as far as the pollution goes, we make sure to be enviro-conscious: last year on earth day, we had a big tire fire. Take that, EPA.

This is our barn door that we do burnouts on when there's too much traffic on Route 53. You can see video of said burnouts on the Dart page.

We have all kinds of stuff to work with, including but not limited to our paint practice materials:

Our facility is rather well suited for our purposes. Tons of open space, and some room to really open up the vehicles being tested. Here's where we test the throttle response and acceleration:

We even have seperate battery and tire storage areas! You can't beat that!

Our tire pile has recently been upgraded! Here's our new storage solution!

We are also equipped with a specialty towing machine. Antique? Yep. Flathead four? Nuthin but. Powerful? Uh...maybe in a past life. It needs an overhaul, but it still pulls down trees pretty well.

Go take a look at our projects, since you have nothing better to do than read this crap.
